"Maybe, when the full extent of the implications and potential of quantum theory becomes mainstream, we'll find our sense of wonder again. To paraphrase an old Star Trek cliche: It's Magic, Jim... but not as we know it :)"

"I feel the same way, Ron, but now I've found that even magic is explainable by quantum theory so my scientific mind is reconciled with my natural desire to be a traditional eccentric by continuing to be an elf at the same time."

The sadness of the know-it-all

I remember when my grandson, Sam was about three or four and he was watching me work on my computer. I was using a 3D software application so I created a simple racing car on screen for him. He watched me form it from a sphere… squashing it and drawing out parts of it to form the body, then the tyres, then the wheels and finally assigning colours and textures to the various parts so that the paintwork gleamed like real paintwork and the tyres looked like real rubber tyres but the metallic…See More

what type of faerie are you?
A rather weird one

A touch of Marmite amid the honey.

Sue (faerie trails) emailed me about this site so I thought I'd check it out. First impression was that it seems a good site. Well presented and everything. This was at around 01:00 this morning and I was feeling a little tired so I thought I'd check it out more thoroughly in the morning.

Could I get to sleep? Not a chance! Then I realised what was happening; I was having a sugar-rush!

I then knew what my Quest must be: I must save the Realm of Humans from becoming crystalised in all this faerie sweetness. I must become The Dark Master and add a touch of Marmite amid the honey.

wands with absolute integrity

This wand is not for sale... but you can have it. what makes it special is not the power or properties it may hold and I make no claims regarding that. What I can guarantee is that it was collected in a manner that benefits the tree. It was selected from a hazel tree that had become overgrown with honeysuckle, which, in time, would have killed the tree. In return for this small branch, the whole tree was completely cleared of all the honeysuckle,… Continue

Illustrated verse competition

Posted on May 18, 2009 at 21:30 10 Comments

I have been creating a series of illustrated verses, some of which can be seen in my photos. The hope is to find a publisher willing to publish them as a children's book. Of course, that would depend on finding a publisher willing to take it on.

However, I've one illustration (see above) for which I haven't been able to come up with a verse so I'm throwing this open. Any poets out there are invited to submit entries. The closing date… Continue

PHANTASTES (A Faerie Farce)

Posted on May 14, 2009 at 11:00 2 Comments

Well what a week I’ve had! I saw this pretty dilapidated secretaire (no. Not a worse-for-wear French secretary… the wooden kind) in a junk shop and thought it might look nice in the conservatory next to the aspidistra. Were I a practical man, I would have taken into consideration the fact that I don’t have a conservatory or an aspidistra but I’m more into visualising. My left brain might be on the blink but my right brain is making up for it.

Anyway, I get this… Continue

Faerie infestations

Posted on May 13, 2009 at 16:30 2 Comments

You know how it is: you inadvertently leave the porch light on at The Dark Castle and the next thing you know is that all the elementals from that cursed cess-pit they call The Enchanted Forest are buzzing around it like flies on the proverbial.

Well, now you can do something about it.

Forget all that frantic swatting with rolled up copies of The Mordor Times. Just one spray with a can of Faerie… Continue

Why thank you.. I'm entertaining if nothing else!
I think you should start a rebellious pixie/snarling/anti-saccharine/refreshing antidote column or comic strip in a faerie-type mag.. It would go down a treat with the goth faeries.. I think it would be hilarious.. Balance is healthy after all!
